Data on CD:

In the root directory of this CD there are three directories: Manitoba; Plot
files; and Software.

In the Manitoba directory you'll find two subdirectories 'GIS' and 'Database'.
'GIS' contains the MapInfo based GIS map, while 'Database' the Access '97
based database. Your options for viewing the MapInfo GIS map are described
below. The file to open in either MapInfo Professional or Proviewer is
Manitoba.WOR. The Access database requires Microsoft Access, this can
however be either version '97 or 2000, but there are no alternatives to the
access environment, the file this case is Manitoba Database.MDB.

In the Plots directory there are two files. The first Man_Map.rtl is an RTL
binary format plot file configured for an HP 755 plotter. This file should
also give good results on any HP plotters newer than the 755 that have a
plotting surface at least 36" wide. The second file is Manitoba.PDF file.
This is a file configured for viewing in Adobe Acrobat 4.05, this software
is provided on the CD and the installed directions are described below.
This file when open in Acrobat can be printed to any hardcopy output device.

In the Software directory there are two subdirectories, the contents are which
are described below.

Software installation:

There are two pieces of software required for viewing the information on this
CD - a Mapinfo product and Adobe Acrobat Reader.

If you do not have MapInfo Professional version 5.x, we have provided a copy
of MapInfo Proviewer 6.0 on this CD. Even if you have an earlier version of
MapInfo it will not be able to successfully open the workspace file due to
changes within the software in the latest versions.

Install MapInfo Proviewer 6.0 -
In the 'software\proviewer' directory on this CD Run the file setup.exe. You
will be prompted for acceptance of a standard license agreement and for an
installation directory path. Once the software is installed you will be able
to open the workspace file in Proviewer which will in turn open all component
files for the Manitoba Mineral Occurrence map. Many of the utilities available
in a full version of MapInfo Professional are available in Proviewer including
printing and the use of the info tool. However, this is a free shareware
version of the software and therefore more limited the full version is a more
complete GIS system.

Install Adobe Acrobat 4.0 -
In the 'software\acrobat' directory on the CD Run the file ar405eng.exe. This
will install the program Acrobat Reader version 4.05. With this software
you'll be able to run view the map in it's PDF form.
